Former Prime Minister Verhofstadt: "Fedactio plays a pioneering role inthe area of multiculturalism and diversity"

Fedactio brings politicians, representatives of civil society and citizens together in the framework of the project 'active citizenship'. After the meetings with the politicians Bart De Wever (N-VA), Meyrem Almaci (Groen), Bruno Tobback (sp.a) in the course of the elections, Fedactio invited Guy Verhofstadt for a get-together. The former Prime Minister and current leader of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats of Europe in the European Parliament was accompanied by Mathias De Clercq, Open VLD party leader in Ghent.

Yesterday evening around 20pm, more than one hundred entrepreneurs and representatives of civil society gathered in the conference room of the NH hotel in Ghent to meet with former Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt and Open VLD party leader in Gent, Mathias De Clercq. After the welcome speech, the General Secretary of Fedactio, Ahmet Ulusoy, gave information about Fedactio’s activities, objectives and member associations and emphasized the importance and necessity of continuing to invest in projects that contribute to social cohesion, solidarity and mutual respect.

Mathias De Clercq, on the other hand, talked about the qualities of the capital of East-Flanders in numbers. “The population of Ghent has grown by 15% last year and has become 245,000. Entrepreneurs in Ghent pay the lowest taxes in comparison with those in other Flemish cities. 85% of entrepreneurs are satisfied having started a business in Ghent. The harbor of Ghent provides employment for 70.000 people.”, according to the politician. De Clercq also expressed that he wanted to make the city more ambitious and attractive, together with the citizens of his city.
