Together with member associations the ‘Vlaamse Olympiade Vereniging’ (VOV) and Francolympiades, Fedactio organises the Belgian version of the Pangea-mathquiz, for students from the 2nd and 3rd grade of primary school, and the 1st and 2nd grade of secondary school. Every year, more than 14.000 children and youngsters all over Belgium sign up for this challenge. On a European level the quiz is an overwhelming success as well: approximately 400,000 students, spread over 16 European countries, take part in the event.
The goal of the Pangea-mathquiz is to motivate everyone to participate, not only the primuses of the class. With the quiz, VOV, Francolympiades and Fedactio hope to spark interest for mathematics from a young age onwards, a solution in the long run for the accute shortage of mathematicians.
